I know you are one of the Epytophiles; please note the February talk on Hierakonpolis. I'm told this is a really interesting site that is little known--it should be a really interesting talk!
Hi Liz, and thank you for the info about June. I passed it along to Adele who will send her what she needs and add her to the mailing list. Probably part of the problem is that the society used to mail out to several hundred people, while less than 100 were actually members. To cut costs and help promote the website, we are only sending mailings to those who are members. However, obviously if this woman does not have a computer, it's good that we found out about her from you - many thanks!
By the way I completely understand your transportation issues about attending lectures. I will keep my ears and eyes open to see if there is someone who can do this for you in the future - where exactly do you live in the valley (not address, but what area, what are you near, etc)?
Liz - I just wanted to let you know that I did get the check from Lanny Ball and have deposited it - thanks for sending it along, and sorry it took me a few days to get back to you! I hope we see you at the lecture this week.
Best,
Jayne
Your comments should be directed to the group. On the opening page there is a section called "Forum" and there are two categories that you can use to post your comments: The New Web and The Lecture Series.
Use that as that is what it is for and any positive or negative feedback will be considered by someone who is responsible. Too bad about Pat but as I suspected she and Paul only participated to support you and as your friends, not for any love of archaeology. It is too bad that you do not live in Tempe or Mesa as then I would offer to drive you.
I'm glad you liked the picture. It was taken at Medinet Habu and Sekhmet is one of my favorites. Interesting that it is so close to Malkata, the palace of Amenhotep III that is believed to be destroyed at the time of the plague. Archaeologists found lots of statues of Sekhment especially in the Luxor area as she is the protector against plague.
