Mummy of Unknown Man E
The mummy of Unknown Man E (or the screaming mummy) has been tentatively identified as a son of Ramses III.
In the 12th century B.C. a wife of Ramses III was charged with conspiracy to murder the pharaoh and put her son Pentewere in his place. He may have been sentenced to death by poison. His crudely mummified body was found wrapped in sheepskin, which meant he wasn't clean and did something bad. Resin was poured down the throat of the corpse instead of into the cranium after removing the brain.
Zahi Hawass is planning to conduct DNA tests to affirm this is the son of Ramses III.
Is this Pentewere or is it a Hittite prisoner?
